He is commonly known as “mailshot” or “direct mail”.
You must know him well; it is he that causes your mailbox to overflow on a regular basis. Many of these mailshots end up being thrown out along with an endless number of wasted chances to engage in a conversation with potential customers. Pity really.
Now imagine that your target audience is accurately defined, your message is clear and your advert is phrased and visually designed in such a way that your mailshot not only withstands most of the “throwaway sweeps” but that it also has the desired effect on a welcome percentage of recipients.
There is absolutely no harm in trying your luck – but ideas, timing, recipients and the correct use of copy are more reliable factors. Plus, your success is more measurable.
